Experience & Background

Early Life & Education

Janet Jackson, a dedicated advocate and courtroom lawyer, was born and raised in Scranton where she excelled in academics and leadership roles and exhibited an impressive ability to argue for justice as her parents and four siblings sometimes lamented.

Graduating cum laude from King's College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and criminal justice and a minor in philosophy, Janet went on to the Dickinson School of Law where she received the William H. Dodd Award honoring the student who exhibited the highest standards of the legal profession at graduation. During law school, Janet was chosen to lead several law clinics and served as a law clerk to Professor Tom Place, a renowned civil rights and public interest advocate and a great mentor and influence in Janet's career.

Professional Experience

Attorney Jackson quickly passed the Pennsylvania bar examination and accepted a position as a law clerk for the Middle District of Pennsylvania's United States Magistrate Raymond J. Durkin. Attorney Jackson was also appointed as a special prosecutor by the Lackawanna County District Attorney where she prosecuted cases of animal abuse and neglect before moving to Stroudsburg to accept a position as the first full-time assistant public defender of Monroe County. Attorney Jackson became an active member of the Monroe County Bar Association and enjoyed coaching high school students in Mock Trial competitions and starting the annual Law Day tradition of Fairy Tale Trials introducing elementary school students to the law with such imaginative and entertaining trials as prosecuting Goldilocks for her illegal behavior in trespassing upon the three bears.

She continued to serve her interest in animal welfare as a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Lackawanna County before becoming active in various organizations supporting animals in Monroe County.

As assistant public defender Janet gained valuable courtroom experience handling juvenile dependency and delinquency matters while also trying hundreds of cases before judges and juries as well as arguing appellate cases to the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

Joining Dominick Anthony Lockwood in his Stroudsburg law practice in 1988, Attorney Jackson continued to serve as a part-time public defender while serving law firm clients in divorce, custody, injury cases, and estate and other civil litigation. Over her career, Attorney Jackson has tried every kind of case from a minor traffic offense to a death penalty case, having been appointed by the Honorable Margherita Patti Worthington, President Judge, to serve as lead counsel.

Fighting for my client's constitutional rights has always been the best part of practicing law for me. People often ask “what is your position on the Second Amendment” and I respond that I am in favor of ALL constitutional rights. Our forefathers risked everything for freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the right to bear arms. We should never take our liberties for granted and we should never underestimate the importance of an independent judiciary to protect those rights.

Personal Life

Attorney Jackson considers her children, Julia, Jackson, and Jonathan Fiorentino to be her greatest life accomplishments and is especially happy that Julia met her beloved husband Scott Lueker while working for the law firm. The future is bright thanks to the Lueker children, Jack, Charlotte, and Frances, from whom we expect great things.
